The RF tries to present Syrsky as a "Soviet and Russian" man.

Russian propaganda has launched a campaign to discredit AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy and the AFU as a whole. This was reported by the NSDC's Centre for Countering Disinformation on 11 February.

It is reported that Russian propaganda is trying to impose an image of a "Soviet and Russian" man on the new AFU commander-in-chief.

For this purpose, propagandists are actively looking for his relatives in Russia, "family friends", from whom they take comments and disseminate them in the information space with the appropriate context," the report said.

It is emphasised that the main goal of this campaign is to discredit the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU and reduce confidence in the AFU.

The CCD reported a number of facts:

  • Syrsky was part of Valery Zaluzhny's team for a long time.
  • He commanded successful operations, including the liberation of the Kiev and Kharkiv regions. They would not have been possible without quality personnel, but much depends on the command. Syrskyy has shown that he knows how to achieve results in the war against the Russian Federation.
  • Now Syrskyy's team consists of young commanders who have been promoted. This is a prerequisite for systemic improvements in the AFU.
  • Supporting the campaign that the Commander-in-Chief is a "Russian man" is playing along with enemy disinformation.

Earlier, adverts for fake websites allegedly linked to former AFU Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny began to spread in the network. The resources are hosted on different domains and created by anonyms.
