Russian occupiers appropriating land in occupied Mariupol
The occupation authorities in the temporarily occupied territories found a new way to seize private property from citizens.
According to the Mariupol city council and theRelocated media cluster, the invaders are now using administrative methods of pressure on the owners of land plots.
If, in the opinion of the occupation administration, a plot of land is not used for its intended purpose - it is not cultivated or there is no construction on it - the owner is first fined 50,000 Russian roubles. In case of a repeated "violation" the fine increases to 1.5 per cent of the cadastral value of the land. The third stage of such "punishment" is the forced alienation of the land plot, in fact - its confiscation.
This is another tool to legitimise the appropriation of Ukrainian property. At the same time in Mariupol continues the formation of the so-called register of "ownerless property" - the authorities are looking for flats and houses of residents who were forced to leave the city because of the war.
