Russian night strike on Kyiv: 11 people injured, details of the attack

On the night of 4 May, Kyiv was subjected to a large-scale kamikaze drone attack, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure in several districts of the capital.

The State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine (SESU) said that the number of injured had risen to 11 people, including two children aged 14 and 17. Initially, seven people were reported injured, but the number increased as rescue operations continued.

The attack affected three districts of the city at once - Obolonskyi, Svyatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi. In Obolonsky district there was a fire in a flat on the top floor of a 12-storey building, the flames spread to the roof, partially destroying its ceilings. In addition, near another apartment building burned seven cars. In Svyatoshynskyi district, fires broke out in three private one-storey houses. And in Shevchenkivskyi district there was a tree fire, damage to an electric pylon and destruction of the roadbed under the railway bridge.

Rescue services worked all night. 76 firefighters and 14 units of special equipment were involved in the elimination of consequences. All the fires were extinguished, but the assessment of the damage continues, and the data on the victims are still being clarified.

On the eve of the attack, an air alert was declared in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine because of the threat from Russian drones. The latest strike was a reminder of the continuing danger to civilians even deep inside the country.
