Russian Federation's massive attack: Ukraine and 30 UN member states initiate emergency Security Council meeting

Ukraine and 30 other UN member states have requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. The reason is Russia's massive attack on Ukraine.

This was announced by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on social network X.

Ukraine, along with three dozen UN member states, has appealed to the Ecuadorian presidency with a request to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council over Russia's missile and drone attack, which resulted in a large number of civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure," Kuleba wrote.

We shall remind you that on the night and morning of 29 December, Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles of different types and Shahed UAVs. In total, the enemy launched 158 means of air attack. Air defence forces destroyed 87 cruise missiles and 27 attack drones.

As a result of the massive attack, schools, a maternity hospital, a shopping centre, a metro station and residential houses from different regions of Ukraine were damaged. As of 19:30 it was known about 30 dead and more than 160 wounded.

It also became known that one of the Russian missiles entered Polish airspace and then left it.

In the afternoon, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister addressed the world community and said that the only collective response can and should be military and financial assistance to Ukraine. Later, the UK announced the transfer of hundreds of missiles for Ukrainian air defence.
