On the evening of 6 December, the Russian army struck the city of Zaporizhzhya, causing numerous casualties and destruction. According to the latest reports, the death toll has risen to nine people and the number of wounded has reached six. Among the injured are two children, aged 4 and 11 years old. The tragedy was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhya regional military administration Ivan Fedorov.

The impact led to a fire at a service station where people were believed to be present. The attack also caused power outages in some parts of the city. Emergency services, including fire brigades and ambulances, arrived on the scene promptly and continue to work to eliminate the consequences.

According to Fedorov, ambulance crews travelled to the scene of the disaster to provide the victims with the necessary medical care. The authorities note that the number of victims and injured may increase as work to remove the rubble and clarify the scale of the destruction continues.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of a high probability of being hit by guided aerial bombs, and explosions erupted in the Zaporizhzhya region shortly afterwards. Locals also reported powerful explosions directly in the city itself.

This further act of aggression by the Russian army has been a heavy blow to Zaporizhzhya and its residents. The authorities urge the population to remain cautious and to keep a close eye on air alerts.
