This is not the first time that Ukrainian army training bases have been attacked.

On Tuesday, 29 July, Russian troops launched a missile attack on the territory of one of the training units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack resulted in casualties among the personnel. This was reported in the official Telegram-channel of the AFU Ground forces.

Despite the observance of security measures, it was not possible to completely avoid losses. As of 21:30 it is known about three dead and 18 wounded Ukrainian military. All the injured are receiving the necessary medical care. Emergency services are working at the site.

The Army expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced the start of a command investigation. To establish all the circumstances of the incident, a special commission has been set up, which will be headed by the head of the Military Law Enforcement Service of the AFU. If it is established that the cause of the losses was the actions or inaction of officials, the guilty will be held accountable.

The command of the AFU and the Ground Forces is taking additional measures to improve security at training ranges and training centres, especially during missile and air strikes by Russia.

For example, on 22 June, Russian troops struck a training ground of one of the mechanised brigades in Kherson region. There were also casualties at that time, but thanks to timely action, larger-scale consequences were avoided.
