Russian combat dolphins disappear during storm in Crimea
Russia's fighting dolphins have disappeared after a violent storm in occupied Crimea. The animals' enclosures were flooded or washed away.
The cages for combat dolphins of the Russian Navy in the harbour of Sevastopol disappeared as a result of a storm. This is evidenced by satellite images studied by OSINT analyst HISutton.
A preliminary analysis of the damage to Russian defence shows that the dolphin enclosures in Sevastopol harbour have disappeared as a result. They may have been flooded or washed away by the water. It is likely that some or all of the trained dolphins have been released," the analyst said.
Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia has used fighting dolphins to protect Sevastopol harbour from Ukrainian special forces divers.
The analyst noted that these dolphins were bred in captivity. They depended on their trainers for food and are unable to take care of themselves in the wild.
In social network X, the analyst confirmed that "the dolphin pens in Sevastopol harbour are 100% gone"
