Russia will spend a third of state budget on war in the coming years - WP
In total, Russia's military spending will amount to about 6 per cent of GDP - one of the highest in the world.
Russia intends to spend a third of its budget on war next year. This is according to the Washington Times.
The publication points out that the Russian State Duma adopted a draft federal budget for 2024, as well as for the planning period of 2025-2026 years. According to the plan, the Russians plan to spend about 25% more on warfare in 2024 than in this year. The publication stresses that in this way Russian defence spending will exceed social spending for the first time in Russia's modern history
Presumably, the revenues of the Russian state budget in 2024 will amount to 35 trillion rubles, in 2025 - 33.5 trillion rubles, in 2026 - 34.1 trillion rubles. The lion's share of these revenues will be spent on the continuation of military aggression in Ukraine.
The budget provides for record military expenditures in modern Russian history. The article "national defence" in 2024 will be allocated 29.4% - about 10.8 trillion rubles," the report says.
As analysts specify, the expenditures include not only financing of the army, but also appropriations n military industry, payments to the wounded and families of the dead.
In the budget for 2023, such expenditures were laid out in the amount of 6.4 trillion rubles, that is, we are talking about an increase of more than one and a half times," notes the haheta.
Note, according to Forbes Ukraine estimates, Russia spends about 300 million dollars a day on waging war in Ukraine. The largest items of expenditure are: ensuring military operations (51.3bn dollars), military salaries (35.1bn dollars), compensation to the families of the dead (25.6bn dollars) and wounded (21bn dollars) and the cost of destroyed equipment (34bn dollars).
