Russian-funded political forces have been found in Albania, Montenegro, Madagascar, and possibly Ecuador.

This is reported by The Washington Post, citing an intelligence review that the Joe Biden administration ordered this summer.

According to the report, Moscow planned to spend hundreds of millions of dollars more in its covert global campaign against democratic systems. Instead, political forces were moving forward that met the interests of the Kremlin.

Moscow, according to WP, has used cryptocurrencies, cash and gifts to influence political forces abroad, often using the accounts and resources of Russian embassies to do so.

Russian-funded political forces have been found in Albania, Montenegro, Madagascar, and possibly Ecuador. This review does not cover the United States, but US officials say their country is also vulnerable to Russian influence.

On September 12, the US State Department sent a letter to US embassies in more than 100 countries describing Russia's covert activities. The allies were offered to introduce measures to reduce Russian influence: in particular, to impose sanctions and expel those involved in the secret campaign from the country.

The letter says that funding is controlled by Russian state structures (for example, the FSB) and politicians, in particular "Putin's chef" Yevgeny Prigozhin and businessman Alexander Babakov.
