Russia hits apartment block in Kiev: dozens of civilians killed, three children among them

The search and rescue operation at the site of the impact on the 9-storey residential building in the Darnitsky district of the capital has been completed. Rescuers have extracted the bodies of 24 victims from under the rubble.

According to the State Emergency Service (SES), the search and rescue operation lasted more than 28 hours. UNIAN reports.

Now it is confirmed the death of 24 people, 3 of whom are children. 48 traumatised, - stated in the message.

According to the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko, more than 50 people are injured, three children were killed - girls 12, 15, and 17 years old.

It is noted that about 400 people received help from psychologists of the State emergency service and the National police.

According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers dismantled more than 3 thousand cubic metres of the destroyed structure of the house. Now the units have moved on to emergency recovery work.

As Kyiv24 reported, concerned citizens are carrying flowers and toys to the Russian-built house in Darnytskyi district as a sign of sympathy for the victims of the attack.

15 May has been declared a Day of Mourning in memory of the victims of the most massive Russian attack on Kiev.
