Russia may decide to launch an electromagnetic pulse attack on Ukraine, The Financial Times has said.
It is reported that an electromagnetic pulse, which could disable all electronics, could be generated by blowing up a nuclear charge in space. Then civilian and military equipment would probably be disabled.
In the Kherson region, in particular, such an explosion would put the systems that control the region's dams out of operation, as well as shutting down light, heat and water. Vehicles could also be put out of action.
However, the article predicts that if the Russian Federation decides to take such a step, it will provoke a collective response from NATO, as former Pentagon official Roger Pardo-Mauer noted:
