A Russian Mi-8 military helicopter flew into Ukraine and landed at the Poltava airfield. Russian social media claim that it was a navigational error by the crew.

The landing of a Russian MI-8 helicopter was reported by journalist Yuriy Butusov.

Russian social media claim that the helicopter landed at an aerodrome in Poltava allegedly due to navigation errors of the crew.

Butusov wrote that "without a doubt, this is another Russian lie. After all, if the helicopter flew to the Poltava airfield, as the Russian blogger reported, it is about 300 kilometres from the front line, and the Russians could only land there deliberately, as a result of a well-prepared flight."

The helicopter flies at low altitude, at low speed, and the crew can see all ground landmarks well, and it is simply impossible to make a mistake at 300 kilometres, because it is a large consumption of fuel," Butusov wrote.

If everything was as the Russians wrote, then it is possible that there is the first ever conscious surrender of a Russian attack helicopter! This is simply a sensation that demoralises Putin's military aviation elite," Butusov stressed.

GUR speaker Andrei Yusov confirmed the information about the landing of the Russian Mi-8 in Poltava during the telethon. According to him, is now working with the crew.

The Ukrayinska Pravda newspaper quoted its own sources as saying that this was a special operation by Ukrainian intelligence, which lasted more than six months.

Ukrainian intelligence lured the pilot of the Mi-8 AMTSh to Ukraine. He went to co-operate with the GUR. The aircraft was travelling between two airbases and carrying parts for Su-27, Su-30 SM fighters. Along with the pilot, there were two crew members on board who did not know where the helicopter was actually flying to. Mi-8 landed in the Kharkiv region," the report said.

The publication reports that as a result of a special operation two crew members were eliminated. The pilot and his family are in Ukraine, the family was taken out of the Russian Federation in advance. The Mi-8 remained in Ukraine along with parts for fighter planes, which it was supposed to deliver to the Russians.
