President awards 'Hero of Ukraine' title to military officer shot by occupier

Military officer Aleksandr Matsiyevskyy, who was shot dead in captivity after saying "Glory to Ukraine!", was awarded the title "Hero of Ukraine".

In an evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said:

Today I have awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Oleksandr Matsiyevskyy. A soldier, a man all Ukrainians will know. A man who will be remembered forever. For his bravery, for his confidence in Ukraine - and for his "Glory to Ukraine!

The SBU reported on Sunday that the Ukrainian soldier who was shot after saying "Glory to Ukraine!" was a sniper of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the Chernihiv regional TRO, Oleksandr Matsiyevske.
