Polish authorities expel 40 Russian diplomats, accusing them of espionage
The Polish authorities decided to expel 40 Russian diplomats from Poland for their activities incompatible with the status of a diplomat, which in the language of diplomacy means espionage.
This was unofficially reported to Onet by government sources.
This information was confirmed at the conference by Stanislav Zharyn, press secretary of the minister coordinating the special services, who said that ABW had prepared a list of 45 people from diplomatic circles who work for Russian intelligence.
According to Onet's knowledgeable sources, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday morning on an urgent matter.
The list of Russian diplomats who, according to the Polish authorities, were engaged on Polish territory in activities incompatible with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, includes about 40 names. Among them, in particular, are employees of the Russian embassy in Warsaw.
According to the publication's informants, all these diplomats posed a threat to the security of the Republic of Poland, and their activities could be regarded as espionage in favor of a foreign state.
As Onet found out, this information will be announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later on Wednesday afternoon.
