Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak on July 27 signed an agreement with South Korea on the purchase of FA-50 fighter jets, K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers for the Polish army.
This is reported by the PAP agency.
The signing of this agreement is connected with the replenishment of the shortage of equipment transferred to Ukraine. Armament deliveries will take place in two stages. The first stage is the purchase by Poland of 180 howitzers this year. The second stage - more than 800 tanks. The agreement also reached an agreement to start the production of tanks in Poland from 2026.
All weapons will be equipped with Polish components for communication systems.
This agreement is part of the program spelled out in the law "On the Defense of the Fatherland", which was adopted by the Polish Sejm in March. The law provides for a threefold increase in the size of the Polish army and an increase in defense spending.
