Orban told who is to blame for the war in Ukraine
Europe failed its chance as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia - Orban.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that Russia's attack on Ukraine could have been avoided if Western allies had taken a different position towards Putin. In his opinion, they should have made concessions to the master of the Kremlin, writes Telex .
Orban recalled that the Kremlin put forward specific security requirements in late 2021 and early 2022, which were transferred to the United States and NATO members. The document dealt with Ukraine. Putin demanded never to accept the country into NATO. But Russia's demands were rejected, declaring the continuation of the "open door" policy. According to Orban, the refusal of the West then became the reason for military aggression today.
The Prime Minister also said that, in his opinion, it would not have come to a war if Donald Trump had been President of the United States and Angela Merkel had been Chancellor of Germany during these decisive months.
Europe has failed its chance as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia.
France and Germany were participants in the Minsk format, but could not ensure the implementation of the agreements, now the Kremlin now wants to talk not with the Europeans, but with the United States, Orban said.
Earlier, Orban said that Hungary would not interfere in the war between Russia and Ukraine, as the Hungarians who live in Ukraine could suffer because of this.
