Occupiers take advantage of consequences of their bombing of Kakhovka hydropower plant and strengthen regime - Malyar
In the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Russian invaders are trying to use the bombing of the Kakhovka hydro-electric power station to their advantage.
In particular, the Russians reinforce the occupation regime and continue terrorizing civilians: they persecute them for pro-Ukrainian sentiments, damage documents, steal homes and obstruct the work of volunteers.
Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar said this on Telegram.
According to her, the Russian command has tightened filtering measures to identify citizens with pro-Ukrainian sentiments after it started evacuating people from the flooded areas. After the bombing of the Kakhovska hydroelectric power plant, the occupiers detained people at checkpoints. People were forced to pay to get to safer places. In addition, they conducted searches and seized all valuables and jewellery.
In addition, the Russian invaders took away and immediately destroyed Ukrainian passports, birth certificates and other documents obtained in Ukraine. Also, the occupiers stole personal property of citizens from the dwellings abandoned by their owners," Malyar added.
At the same time, Russian propagandists filmed demonstration videos about "allegedly carrying out a successful organized evacuation of the civilian population. In reality, the Russians did not take any measures to save people. Moreover, they prohibited volunteers from providing humanitarian aid to the victims.
