Ukraine prosecutor general's office reveals orders from Russian commanders to rape women in captured villages
It is not only the rape of women, but also the forced nudity and torture of men and children.
This was reported by The New York Times, citing the prosecutor of the procedural management of criminal proceedings for crimes committed in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of the Prosecutor-General's Office, Anna Sosonska.
One of the pieces of evidence is the testimony of 26-year-old Olga, who on the eighth to ninth day of her Russian detention was tied to a table naked from the waist down. For 15 minutes, her interrogator used foul language towards her, then threw a jacket over her and let seven other men into the room.
According to Ukrainian investigators, Russian commanders knew about the rapes or even encouraged them. According to witnesses, Russian commanders gave instructions in which they encouraged the military to become violent. For example, they instructed soldiers to relax a little.
There was also a documented case where eight Russian soldiers raped a man who was stopped at a roadblock.
As witnesses from different cities described similar methods of torture and interrogation, investigators concluded that the Russian leadership was behind it all.
Iryna Didenko, a prosecutor at the Office of the Prosecutor General, who is investigating the crimes, said
This is part of genocide. But we need time to prove it.
