Germany's new defence minister reassured that German tanks could go to Ukraine before US tanks
Decisions on tanks from Germany may be taken in the "coming days".
Germany's newly appointed Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said this in an interview with the ARD television channel.
Pistorius believes that deliveries of German Leopard 2 tanks should not depend on the US sending its Abrams tanks.
I do not know anything about such a correlation. I am absolutely sure that we will get a decision on this issue in the next few days. But today I cannot tell you what it will look like," the German Defence Minister said in response to a question whether Germany is ready to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine only if the USA supplies Abrams battle tanks.
It is worth noting that earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a conversation with US President Joe Biden that Germany would deliver its tanks only after Washington sends Abrams to Ukraine.
