According to Robert Fitzo, Ukrainians live a normal life in Kyiv and the war does not affect them there.

On the eve of his visit to the western Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said that life in Kyiv was "absolutely normal". This was reported by Refresher news portal on 23 January.

Robert Fitzo held a press conference after a government retreat. Journalists asked him why he was holding a meeting with the Ukrainian prime minister in Uzhhorod near the Slovak border.

When asked if he wanted to see the war in Kiev in person, he replied irritably. Ukrainians live normal lives in Kiev, he said, and the war does not affect them there.

And do you really think there is a war going on in Kyiv? You are not serious, I hope ... There is absolutely normal life there. Why should I go to Kiev when I can meet the prime minister in Uzhgorod, I don't see any difference," Fitzo said.

He received another question from the editor of Korzar newspaper, of which SME is the publisher. She asked him what part of Slovakia he would sacrifice for the benefit of Russia.

I do not answer any questions from media outlets such as SME-čko, Aktuality, Denník N and Markiza, and above all I do not answer questions from the SME group, of which Mr Soros is a co-owner. So, unfortunately, you are out of luck," Fitzo replied and left the press conference.

We shall remind you that on 23 January, Russian troops fired missiles at Kyiv. Civilian infrastructure, residential houses and cars were damaged in Svyatoshinsky, Solomenskyi and Pecherskyi districts. 22 people were injured, including one child.
