At last on the screens: "Mavka. The Forest Song" has been released
This week Ukrainians will finally be able to see the animated film "Mavka, the Forest Song" based on the fairy tale drama by Lesya Ukrainka, which took almost 200 million hryvnias and 8 years to complete.
Many Ukrainians have been waiting for the premiere of the full-length 3D film Mavka. And no wonder, because the producers, Animagrad studio, promised the audience something incredible and conducted a large-scale advertising campaign. But, having started work on the picture in 2015, the show was constantly postponed, and the plot was changed.
During 8 years of waiting, Ukrainians expressed different opinions about the project. Because about 200 million hryvnia were spent on its implementation. And now, after several years of discussions, the already "scandalous Mavka" finally comes out in wide distribution.
The plot
For the plot, the producers took images from Lesya Ukrainka's work and wrapped everything in a mysterious atmosphere with ancient myths.
Mavka is the soul and the newly elected guardian of the forest, whose main mission is to protect the forest and its main treasure - the Source of Life - from any human encroachment. One day Lukash, an ordinary village boy with a rare talent for music, wanders into the forest. Mavka and Lukash meet and fall in love, leaving Mavka with a difficult choice: love or her duty to the forest.
Three Ukrainian actresses worked on Mavka's character: actress Natalia Denisenko voiced the main character, singer Kristina Solovyj sang in two official film soundtracks and prima ballerina Kateryna Kukhar provided her with movements and plastique.
