In Poltava region, a military officer helped men to evade military service
The SBU has exposed another corrupt official. An official of the military enlistment office in Poltava Region helped men to avoid military service and cross the border illegally.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The suspect produced documents for evaders that allowed them to leave Ukraine without hindrance. For this, the official was paid 6,000 US dollars. However, the offender was detained red-handed while handing over a forged certificate to one of the clients.
According to the materials of the investigation, the figure was in collusion with other employees of Mirgorod and Lubensky territorial centres of acquisition and social support of Poltava region. With their help, he found clients and prepared documents that allowed men to go abroad, - reported in the SBU.
In addition, the persons liable for military service were helped to obtain a conclusion of the military medical commission on unfit for service. To do this, they were given non-existent diagnoses and then removed from the military register.
The suspect and several district "military committees" were searched and seized:
- documents confirming illegal activities;
- cash money received by the official from a "client";
- several dozen packages of documents on potential evaders.
At the moment, the military commission official has been reported on suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine). The issue of selecting a measure of restraint is being decided. The investigation to identify all the participants in the illegal scheme and bring them to justice is also ongoing.
