Mines exploded at the border between Ukraine and Belarus at night (photo)
On the border between Ukraine and Belarus, mines exploded on the railway bridge on the night of 29 August.
This is reported by the Telegram channel Belaruski Gayun with reference to pro-governmental channels in Belarus.
"Pro-Lukashist channels report that today at around 03:30, several anti-tank mines TM-62M detonated at the railway bridge 800 metres from the station "Slovechno," reads the report.
It is reported that the explosions occurred due to a lightning strike. A bridge support was damaged and destroyed railway tracks in both directions.
Speaker of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrei Demchenko confirmed to the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty the detonation of mines "in one direction near the border line" from a lightning strike.
According to the information I have, no one was hurt. I would like to add separately that there is a restriction on the movement of citizens on the border, especially near the border line. Therefore, mine barriers in certain directions important for the security of Ukraine threaten only those who want to come to us with war, Demchenko stressed.
He also said that earlier in July there was a detonation of mines in Volyn region near the border with Belarus. The explosions were also caused by a thunderstorm and a road was damaged.
