A lot of real estate and land: the property of a Russian general was arrested in Poltava region
The property of Russian Colonel-General Valeriy Kapashin has been arrested in Ukraine.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
It is noted that Kapashin is the head of the federal department for safe storage and destruction of chemical weapons under the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry. In Poltava region he had confiscated more than 20 commercial facilities, more than 3 thousand square metres of residential real estate and 17 land plots.
Among the seized property are Kapashin's family house, premium class hotels and restaurants, as well as office and shopping and entertainment centres with a total area of about 30 thousand square metres. The total value of the seized assets is more than 1bn hryvnias," the SBU reported.
It is noted that the property was registered to Kapashin's daughter and son-in-law, who lived in Ukraine before the full-scale invasion. They left for the Russian Federation on the eve of the full-scale invasion and travelled to the aggressor country, where they obtained citizenship. Thus, the Russian general legalised the money illegally earned in Moscow.
In addition, Kapashin's relatives used the income of the "family" business to finance "investment" projects in Russia and temporarily occupied Donbass. Later, part of this money was sent to the budget of the aggressor country in the form of payment of taxes and fees," the SBU added.
The addresses of office and residential premises belonging to the family of the Russian general were searched. Law enforcers found:
- russian-style military uniforms;
- banned Soviet symbols and propaganda literature of the Russian Federation;
- souvenirs and awards presented to Kapashin in the Kremlin.
The investigation under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing:
- conducting economic activities in co-operation with the aggressor state, illegal authorities established in the temporarily occupied territory, including the occupation administration of the aggressor state - part. 4 of Art. 111-1;
- aiding and abetting an aggressor State - art. 111-2;
- financing of terrorism - part 3 of article 258-5. 3 of Art. 258-5.
In addition, the issue of nationalisation of the seized property in favour of Ukraine is being resolved.
