Many countries in the G20 are afraid to directly call Russia an aggressor

Many countries have their own geopolitical interests and do not want to spoil their relations with Russia

This is reported by the publication Liga.Net with reference to the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

According to Borrell, all countries condemn the actions of Russia and the fact that it encroached on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. But when it comes to naming the aggressor and who is responsible for the consequences, many refrain from doing so for various reasons.

Some are more concerned with the consequences of the war for themselves than with who is responsible for these hardships and how to end this war. Others complain about "double standards" or simply want to maintain good relations with Russia. And many don't want to take sides because it would jeopardize their geopolitical interests, Borrell said.

Borrell notes that "the global battle of narratives is in full swing, but the EU has not yet won it."
