French President Emmanuel Macron has said that if ground troops are deployed to Ukraine, the French military will not take part in the offensive.

Macron said this in an interview with TF1 Info.

According to him, the main goal should be - we must not let Russia win.

Commenting on the possibility of introducing French troops into Ukraine Macron said that all options are possible. At the same time assured that they will by no means go on the offensive.

All these options are possible. The only one who will respond is the Kremlin regime. It will not be us. We will never go on the offensive, we will never take the initiative," he said.

The French President emphasised that the situation must be looked at consciously and act decisively.

He also explained why he has recently been talking about the possibility of sending ground troops to Ukraine.

I would just like to make one point clear, which is that what has happened in recent months is a profound change. We helped Ukraine confront. But now the context on Ukrainian soil is changing. The situation is much more difficult for them. Russia is getting tougher at home and is stepping up its attacks," Macron noted.

At the same time, he emphasised that the security of Europeans, particularly French citizens, depends on the situation in Ukraine. According to Macron, if Russia wins - Putin will not stop.
