China does not support Russian invasion and will not give weapons - Ambassador Fu Tsung
China's ambassador to the European Union, Fu Tsung, has said that Beijing does not support Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But he called statements about Beijing's "boundless friendship" with Moscow a rhetorical device.
This was reported bythe Zerkalo Nedeli weekly quoting The New York Times.
Fu Tsung assures that the PRC does not recognise the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine with Russian troops and does not support the so-called "SWO".
"(Friendship) without limits" is nothing but rhetoric," he said, commenting on last year's declaration by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which the diplomat said critics had misinterpreted.
The ambassador also said that China was not and would not provide Russia with military support.
However, explaining why Beijing has not condemned Russia for launching a full-scale war, Fu Tsung said they understand Russia's accusations against NATO. According to him, the Chinese authorities believe that the real reasons for the war are much more complicated than Western leaders say.
