Kiev's air defence forces shot down a hypersonic Kinzhal missile

In Kiev on 14 December, the air defence forces shot down the Russian air ballistic missile Kh-47M "Kinzhal". This was reported by a representative of the Air Force command of the AFU, Yuriy Ignat.

According to him, the explosions heard by Kiev citizens on Thursday afternoon were related to the work of air defence.

Yuriy Ignat noted that Russia launched both real Kinzhal ballistic missiles and fake targets. This is done to confuse the Ukrainian air defence and to understand the peculiarities of its work.

The shooting down of the Kinzhal was also confirmed by the AFU Air Force:

"An anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed one Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile in the Kiev region."
