Another 44 Ukrainians returned from Russian captivity
Another prisoner-of-war exchange took place today, with 44 defenders of Ukraine returning home.
Andrei Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, made the announcement.
We managed to bring home 44 of our men. Among them are 36 privates and sergeants and six officers. These are servicemen, border guards, national guardsmen and sailors," he wrote.
According to him, among the released servicemen there are defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal and Kherson Region.
Two civilians were also returned from Russian captivity.
It is noted that among those released are those who were tortured by the enemy in captivity. All of them will be given the necessary medical care and sent for rehabilitation.
Our team, the Coordinating Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, continues to fulfill President Vladimir Zelensky's task, which was made clear: 'to bring everyone home'," Yermak added.
It should be noted that today's POW exchange was the fourth this month. In total, Ukraine has returned 2,279 citizens home since the start of the full-scale invasion.
