In Russia, the "international LGBT social movement" is recognised as an extremist organisation, which has led to a ban on its activities in the country.
This decision was made by the Supreme Court of Russia, BBC reports.
The Ministry of Justice appealed to the Supreme Court with a demand to recognise the "LGBT movement" as an extremist organisation.
The session against the non-existent legal entity was held in closed mode.
It is noted that the Russian authorities have been harassing the LGBT community for several years. In particular, in 2013, the Russian Federation adopted a law banning "propaganda [among minors] of non-traditional sexual relations". And in 2022, these restrictions were extended to all Russians. After that, the country removed all references to LGBT from books, films, advertisements and TV shows.
