The owner of the company SpaceX Ilon Musk voiced another version of the reason for the shutdown of satellite communication Starlink over Crimea, which affected the military operation of the AFU.
Ilon Musk said this at the All-In Summit technology conference.
According to Musk, Starlink was switched off in the area of Crimea because of US sanctions against Russia. And he allegedly had no right to switch it on without the White House's permission.
The reason Starlink was turned off was really because the U.S. had imposed sanctions against Russia. They cover Crimea and we were not allowed to switch on the link," Musk said.
Ilon Musk said he had received "desperate" requests from Ukrainian officials to switch on Starlink near Crimea during the operation.
Musk also said he would have switched on Starlink over Crimea if he had received a direct order from US President Joe Biden.
