GUR has obtained secret data on Russia's newest nuclear-powered submarine cruiser

Ukrainian intelligence officers from the Defence Ministry's Main Directorate of Intelligence have obtained classified documentation about theRussian strategic nuclear submarine K-555 Knyaz Pozharsky of Project 955A Borey-A. This is reported by the press service of the GUR.

Among the materials obtained are the crew's name lists with indication of positions, qualifications and fitness level, combat instructions and engineering documents. The intelligence also managed to obtain:

• the ship's combat and life support schematics;

• job descriptions, including those for towing and casualty evacuation;

• extracts from the ship's schedule book regulating daily and combat service;

• an act on the study of the deformed radio beacon with the participation of specific enterprises and specialists.

The GSD emphasises that this data makes it possible to assess the technical features and vulnerabilities not only of the Prince Pozharsky, but also of other Project 955A submarines, which form the basis of the naval component of Russia's nuclear triad.

What is known about the Prince Pozharsky submarine

The strategic nuclear-powered submarine Knyaz Pozharsky was officially put on combat duty on 24 July 2025. It joined the 31st Submarine Division of the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet based in Gadzhievo (Murmansk Region). The commissioning of the ship was personally supervised by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Borei-A project provides for equipping the boats with 16 silos for launching Bulava-30 intercontinental ballistic missiles, each of which can carry up to 10 warheads. Thus, one submarine is capable of launching up to 160 nuclear blocks.

Destruction of the cruiser Moskva

Information about the newest submarine appeared against the background of past successes of the Ukrainian military. In April 2022, the AFU sank the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser Moskva, using Ukrainian-made Neptun missiles. This was one of Russia's most significant losses during the entire time of full-scale war.
