The head of the Ministry of Health told what Ukrainian medicine lost during the war
Since the beginning of a full-scale war in Ukraine, 12 doctors have died, 47 more have been seriously injured.
Since the first days of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, 12 doctors have died and 47 more have been seriously injured. This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
He noted that we are talking only about confirmed cases, and in fact there may be more doctors affected by the war.
12 killed by Russian invaders and 47 seriously wounded. These are verified figures,” Lyashko said.
The head of the Ministry of Health stressed that the situation does not mean that there will be a shortage of doctors in Ukraine. He stressed that there are enough doctors in the country, especially, according to him, there are many foreign medical specialists who are ready to come to Ukraine.
There is a line of foreign specialists ready to come to us. We are also open, but we say that it is better to come when a request comes from us - who the hospital needs, for example, an anesthesiologist or a traumatologist. Then we ask: come with your brigade, we will tell you which hospital, - the minister specified.
Lyashko acknowledged that the problem was the emigration of doctors, but "it has not yet created a critical situation in healthcare."
From communication with front-line hospitals, it seems that the majority of medical workers remain at work, the head of the Ministry of Health assured.
The minister also spoke about the serious destruction of infrastructure in the healthcare sector.
We have 672 health facilities damaged or robbed. Of these, according to our estimates, 115 medical facilities have been destroyed and cannot be restored. Only 34.4 billion hryvnia is needed to restore damaged objects. This is 64 more objects without evaluation out of those 672 to which we do not have access. 15 billion 211 million are needed to restore the destroyed ones. We are talking only about restoration, not modernization. 426 pharmacies were also destroyed or looted. 33 of them are not subject to restoration, Lyashko said.
Destroyed and damaged medical institutions are already being restored - where the situation allows.
It is known that not a single surviving hospital remained in Chernigov, three of the damaged institutions cannot be restored.
