Germany suggested returning refugees to Ukraine "for the defence of their country"
The share of working Ukrainians in the FRG is much lower than in other European countries.
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has said that able-bodied Ukrainians in Germany should be sent back home to help ensure the security of their country. He said this in an interview with the Rheinische Post.
According to Söder, the flow of migrants to Germany is decreasing, but there are still many inside the country who "do not have the right to live in the FRG." The next step, he said, should be successive repatriations and deportations for those who do not work and do not contribute to the country's social security system.
Peace is not yet in sight. It is therefore legitimate to consider returning able-bodied Ukrainians to their home country to ensure security in their country. In addition, the share of working Ukrainians in Germany is much lower than in other European countries, and this needs to be changed urgently - emphasised the Bavarian Prime Minister.
Söder also noted that he did not see the possibility of deploying NATO troops in Ukraine, as Russia would never allow it. In his opinion, such a step would be a precursor to Ukraine's accession to the Alliance, but the Bundeswehr is not ready for such actions.
It is at the limit of its capabilities both financially and in terms of personnel. That is why conscription is needed again. Ultimately, there is no escape from this," Söder said.
