Germany proposed to send refugees who do not work to Ukraine
Germany continues to have some of the highest payments for Ukrainian refugees.
Unemployed Ukrainian refugees should return to Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the regional branch of the German Christian Social Union (CSU) party, Alexander Dobrindt.
According to him, now in Germany should be the principle: work in Germany or return to safe neighbourhoods in the west of Ukraine, reports ZDF.
We need stronger obligations for asylum seekers when it comes to work. There should be a job offer and this should be part of the integration service - he said.
At the same time, he emphasised that even those refugees who cannot work receive too much material aid from the state.
The German government has already reacted to Dobrindt's statements. It stressed that many of those Ukrainians who seek protection in Germany are single mothers who face many integration problems: language barriers, lack of childcare, long recognition of professional qualifications. They pointed out that even with great desire Ukrainians in this category cannot find a decent job for them. The authorities also spoke out against forcibly sending Ukrainians home.

We note that about 1.1 million Ukrainians have sought asylum in Germany after Russia's full-scale invasion of their country in February 2022. They are entitled to a social payment of 563 euros per month. Germany also covers costs such as rent, heating and medical care, the newspaper said.
Germany will allocate between 5.5 and 6 billion euros to finance Ukrainians this year, according to the finance ministry.
