Germany does not rule out a military threat from Russia.

The German Union of Cities and Communities has asked the federal authorities to restore old, mothballed shelters in the country and build new ones, as well as to install danger warning sirens in all cities. In particular, such a proposal was made by the head of the Union of Cities and Communities Andre Berggegger, quoted by DW.

The head of the Union of German cities pointed out that the country's authorities should care not only about the accumulation of weapons, but also think about how they will protect the population in case of a real military threat.

It is pointed out that in Germany, out of two thousand civilian storage facilities from the Cold War, only 600 remain. All of them can accommodate no more than 500 thousand people.

That is, in addition to restoring the existing ones separately, it is necessary to build new, modern shelters, - writes the edition.

The union also demands that the authorities install additional air-raid sirens.

According to preliminary estimates, this will require at least 1 billion euros in each of the following years.

It is noted that the supporter of the restoration of bomb shelters is the country's Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, who does not rule out the outbreak of a military conflict with Russia on the territory of Europe.
