The Russian defence ministry is launching its own private armies as a counterweight to Prigozhin.

This was reported by the deputy head of the Main Operative Directorate of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksiy Gromov, at a briefing.

According to him, the Russian Defence Ministry wants to oust Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin from the information field. In addition, the Defence Ministry is trying to launch its own private military armies as a counterweight to the Wagner PMC.

While Prigozhin openly disagrees with the loss of influence and continues his confrontation with the Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin military leadership is trying to establish control over private military companies and other paramilitary formations.

For example, the Yastreb, an FSC affiliated with the Russian Federal Security Service, has become more active.

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defence wants to close down the supply of arms, military equipment and food to the "volunteer formations" as well as provision of medical assistance.
