France may transfer its Leclerc tanks to Ukraine
The decision has not yet been finalised, but they are working on it in Paris.
This was reported by the Politico newspaper.
Journalists report that France is considering sending Ukraine its AMX-56 Leclerc tanks. Thus this should serve as an example for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. After all, the latter is still looking for a reason to deliver Leopard 2 combat vehicles.
We are thinking about it. We will see what is decided at the joint meeting of the French and German governments," a French official said on condition of anonymity.
on 15 January, the UK promised Ukraine 14 Challenger 2 tanks. This is apparently not enough for official Berlin to supply Leopards.
The day before, Scholz had issued an ultimatum to the USA that it would deliver its Leopard 2 tanks if America provided Abrams tanks. The White House said that each country should make its own sovereign decision.
