Four traitors who fought against Ukraine convicted
Four traitors who fought in the occupation forces of the Russian Federation received prison terms.
Four traitors who joined the occupation groups of the Russian Federation and fought against the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the eastern front have received real prison sentences. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Three traitors were captured by Ukrainian soldiers during the fighting in Donetsk Region this autumn. One of them turned out to be an enemy scout, who carried out covert surveillance of the defence positions of the AFU near Avdeevka.
The fourth traitor was captured and his commander was destroyed in the Lisichansk direction.
Based on the SBU materials, the court sentenced two traitors to 15 years in prison and two others to 12 years in prison, taking into account their cooperation with the investigation.
All four enemy collaborators joined the occupation units of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces on the eve of 24 February 2022, the SBU said.
Two of the traitors are residents of the occupied town of Rovenky in the Luhansk region, who "mobilised" into the occupation troops of the Russian Federation. In the ranks of the occupiers they tried to capture Kharkiv, stormed Soledar and Severodonetsk, and then attacked AFU positions near Belogorovka.
The third convict is a resident of the occupied village of Novy Svit in Donetsk Region. There he joined the "1st Slavyansk Brigade" of the Russian 1st Army Corps. Since September this year, Russian commanders had engaged the militant in reconnaissance sorties near Krasnogorovka in the Avdiivka direction.
Another attacker turned out to be a native of Donetsk, who from 2014 to 2015 was in the ranks of the Russian-controlled "Cossack Union of the Region of the Army of the Don". At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was "conscripted" into the motorised rifle battalion of the occupants and fought in the Kamyshevakha area in Lugansk region, and then trained "recruits" in Donetsk.
Based on the collected evidence, the court found the traitors guilty under Part 1, 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The criminal actions of one of them were additionally qualified under part 1 of article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organisation).
