Foreign Ministry reacts to Fox News calling Ukraine Russia

An American TV channel found itself at the centre of a scandal after it mistakenly referred to Kiev as a "Russian city" in one of its broadcasts.

A representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Tykhiy, has called on the Fox News TV channel to look into the incident when the US pro-Trump Fox News channel broadcasted a speech by Russian Patriarch Kirill from Moscow and signed Kiev, whose church services were shown in a separate window, as a Russian city. About this he wrote in his X.

In his publication, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said that if such a thing happened due to inattention, Fox News should apologise and conduct an internal investigation into the incident.

If it was a mistake and not a conscious political statement, should apologise and investigate who made the mistake, - wrote the representative of the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

At the time of publication, the US TV channel has not reacted or commented on the incident live.

We will remind, the American information channel Fox News during the broadcast of the Easter service of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine labelled Kiev as a Russian city. The American TV channel showed the service in Russia, which was attended by the patriarch of the Orthodox Church of the Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin. Next to this were broadcasts of Easter services around the world, including in Kiev. At first, the PCU service at St Michael's Cathedral in St Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral was captioned as taking place in Ukrainian Kiev, but later the caption "Kiev, Russia" appeared on the screen and remained there for a long time.
