Fast and slow music banned in Chechnya

According to Kadyrov's instructions, Chechen music must conform to the "Chechen mentality".

Fast and slow music has been banned in Chechnya. Now all musical, vocal and choreographic works must have a tempo of 80 to 116 beats per minute. This was announced by the Minister of Culture of the republic Musa Dadayev.

The Culture Ministry pointed out that this decision is final and has been agreed with Chechen head Ramzan Kadyrov, on whose instructions the ministry is now also carrying out "tremendous work on the question of the conformity of Chechen musical, vocal and choreographic works to the Chechen mentality and the musical rhythm of the works being performed".

Dadayev added that it is necessary to "bring the Chechen cultural heritage, namely "Chechen customs, traditions, and the peculiarities of the Chechen character, which includes the entire spectrum of moral, ethical and moral norms of Chechen life" to the people and the future of our children.

As a rule, music uses tempos from 40 to 200 or more beats per minute.

We note that the tempo of 80 beats per minute is the tempo of Okean Elzy's song Without Fighting. Get Lucky by Daft Punk with Pharrell Williams has a tempo of 116 beats per minute.

At the same time, going beyond the limits of what is allowed in Chechnya now: rumba, salsa, techno, waltz, trance and others.
