Europe has come close to war - Tusk
Tusk said "we are living at the most critical moment" since the end of World War II and everything "will be decided by the next two years."
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that Europe is in the pre-war era and "literally any scenario is possible", eurointegration.com.ua has reported.
I don't want to scare anyone, but war is no longer in the past. It is real. It started more than two years ago. What is most alarming now is the fact that literally any scenario is possible," he said.
Tusk pointed out that many European politicians are frightened by the very word war, but he emphasised that for eastern Europe it is no longer an abstract concept, but a likely scenario.
In my part of Europe, war is no longer an abstraction, and our duty is not to discuss, but to act and prepare for defence," Tusk said.
He added that, in his opinion, Europe's main task should be to defend Ukraine from Russian invasion and to preserve Ukraine as an independent and integral state.
Tusk added that the situation on the frontline was difficult, but not the same as at the beginning of the war.
