Estonian President Alar Karis said that during his visit to Rome he discussed with US President Donald Trump the peace settlement process between Ukraine and Russia and, as ERR reports, Karis asked the American leader to do everything possible to keep the US involved in the negotiations as a mediator.

I asked how the peace process is progressing and asked him to do everything possible to ensure that the US does not withdraw from the negotiation process," Karis said.

According to the Estonian president, Trump assured him of his intention to continue supporting peace initiatives and emphasised that after his recent meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, the sides were "quite close to a solution". Karis clarified that Trump did not go into details about the results of the talks with Zelensky.

The Vatican held a farewell ceremony for Pope Francis, who died on 21 April. The farewell ceremony for the Pope was attended by many world leaders, also thousands of Catholic believers from around the world. Before the start of the Pope's funeral, US President Donald Trump held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The meeting lasted only 15 minutes, but Zelensky claims the two sides "had time to discuss many things." The White House called the meeting between Zelensky and Trump "productive."
