EU fails to impose sanctions on Rosatom, prevented by Hungary

According to journalists, the European Union has failed to impose sanctions against the Russian state-owned corporation Rosatom and its representatives as part of the tenth package. Hungary opposed it.

Hungary is blocking sanctions against Russia's nuclear sector because it depends heavily on it.

Hungary is blocking it because their nuclear plant is owned by Rosatom, and they say it produces 50% of the country's electricity. But sanctions against individuals (not including the CEO) will not affect energy security. And the EU must respond to Zelensky's call.

France has the same uncertain position on Rosatom, as many of its nuclear plants use Russian nuclear fuel.
