The Duchess of Edinburgh rolled up her sleeves and donned an apron as she volunteered at a Christmas party in support of more than 200 local Ukrainian refugees, the report said.

Sophie served lunch and the Ukrainian choir Kalina sang Christmas songs for all the guests. Mum-of-two Sophie also showed off her creative side by taking part in festive face painting

It was wonderful to see families separated from loved ones get a taste of home and festivity. We wanted to celebrate their resilience and courage at this time of year," said Irina Garmash-Krieger, who leads the refugee centre team.

The charity will support around 4,000 local people who will have a tough time at Christmas this year.

The Christmas aid programme includes food baskets, coupons for toys for children, winter warming items, clothes, toiletries, Christmas lunch and much more.
