Dozens of UOC-MP churches in Chernivtsi left without land

According to the journalists, the Chernivtsi city council voted for the alienation of land from 22 churches of the UOC MP.

The land where the churches are located is communally owned by the community. Religious organizations have property there and could use the plots.

In particular, this applies to the cathedral near Sobornaya Square, the St. Nicholas Church on Ruska Street, the church on Independence Avenue, the Gorecha monastery for men, and the convent on Bukovinska Street.

However, such a decision of the city council is unlikely to lead to practical results. According to the "Suspilne", if the right to use the UOC-MP is taken away from them through a court, they will not lose access to the temples through the execution of easements. This is possible because churches, buildings and facilities on communal property still belong to religious communities.
