CNN: Russia gives Tehran samples of US-made weapons seized in Ukraine

The samples handed over by Russia are being scrutinised by Iranian experts.

CNNreports, citing Pentagon sources, the BBC reports.

The journalists report:

In particular, US authorities know for a fact that samples of US Javelin anti-tank missile systems have ended up in Tehran's hands.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been forced to leave a number of these units on the battlefield.

The publication also reports:

It is not yet known whether Iran has successfully reconstructed any US weapons seized in Ukraine, but it has had a successful track record of building weapon systems based on US designs that have fallen into the hands of Iranians in the past.

The Pentagon says, journalists report, that such risks are taken into account when making decisions about supplying weapons to third countries and there is no cause for excessive concern.
