China's Foreign Ministry issued a statement after Dmitry Kuleba's visit
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that China has always been firmly committed to promoting a political solution to the "Ukrainian crisis".
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba in Guangzhou on 24 July. This was stated in a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Wang Yi said that China and Ukraine are mutually friendly countries, and friendship and cooperation have been achieved during their interaction.
Wang noted that the "crisis" in Ukraine is in its third year and the "conflict" is still ongoing with the risk of escalation and spread.
China has always been firmly committed to promoting a political solution to the crisis," the statement said. Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward "four principles" that provide important guidance on this issue.
On this basis, China and Brazil also jointly issued the "Six-Point Consensus", which covers the "three principles" of conflict norms, the "three elements" of the peace negotiation programme, the "three issues" of humanitarian protection.
China believes that all conflicts should be resolved by returning to the negotiating table and all disputes should be resolved through political means," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that the Russian and Ukrainian sides have recently expressed their willingness to negotiate to varying degrees.
Although the conditions and time are not yet ripe, we support all efforts conducive to peace and are ready to continue to play a constructive role in the ceasefire, cessation of hostilities and resumption of peace talks. China is concerned about the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and will continue to provide humanitarian material assistance to Ukraine," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the Ukrainian side highly appreciates the positive and constructive role of the Chinese side in strengthening peace and maintaining international order. The Ukrainian side attaches great importance to the views of the Chinese side and has carefully studied the "six-point consensus" of China and Brazil on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
The Ukrainian side is willing and ready for dialogue and negotiations with the Russian side. Of course, the talks should be reasonable and substantive, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. - the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
China is grateful to the Ukrainian side for its assistance in evacuating Chinese citizens, especially foreign students, at the beginning of the Russian invasion, and hopes that the Ukrainian side will continue to take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Ukraine.
Wang Yi noted that Ukraine is one of the first countries to support and participate in the construction of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
It is noted that in recent years China has been Ukraine's largest trading partner and the largest exporter of agricultural products. Bilateral trade in the first half of this year showed rapid growth, indicating that there is space and potential for co-operation between the two countries.
It is stressed that the two sides should make full use of the role of the two countries' cooperation mechanism and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields.
China will continue to expand food imports from Ukraine and jointly support the smooth operation of logistics corridors and international food security.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Socialportal earlier reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he did not rule out a personal meeting and negotiations with Putin in order to end the war as soon as possible.
