Chechen parliament head to be tried in absentia in Ukraine
Since the defendant is in Russia, complex measures are being taken to bring him to justice.
The head of the Chechen parliament, Magomed Daudov, who sent "kadyrovtsy" units to the war against Ukraine, will be tried on the basis of the SBU materials. This is reported by SBU.
Now the indictment has been sent to court.
From May 2022 to October 2023, the figure carried out the instruction of Kadyrov on the formation of assault detachments of militants for the war against Ukraine.
Subsequently, the enemy units were included in the occupation groups of the Russian Federation and transferred to the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
There, the "kadyrovtsy" participated in repressions against the civilian population, during which they abducted people resisting the invaders.
In addition, during July-November 2022, Daudov repeatedly personally visited temporarily occupied Lysychansk, Popasnaya and Mariupol.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators informed Daudov of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- ч. 5 Art. 27, Part 3 Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which led to the death of people and other grave consequences);
- ч. 5 Art. 27, Part 2 Art. 437 (planning, preparation, unleashing and waging a war of aggression);
- ч. 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition of lawfulness, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
