Britain announces new sanctions on Russians involved in deportation of Ukrainian children
The UK government has announced a new list of sanctions against Russians. Fourteen people have been placed under the restrictions, 11 of them involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children.
This was reported by Andrei Yermak, head of the presidential office, citing a government press release.
Kseniya Mishonova, the children's rights ombudsperson in the Moscow Region, and Sergey Kravtsov, the Russian education minister, were, among others, placed under sanctions. They played an important role in Russia's elaborate deportation programme aimed at destroying Ukrainian cultural and national identity," Yermak wrote.
In addition, Russian propagandists were included in the list of sanctions. In particular Anton Krasovsky, who said live on air that Ukrainian children should be drowned and burned. Also sanctions were imposed on Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova. She used her position to support anti-Ukrainian policies.
In total, the occupiers deported 19 thousand Ukrainian children. Many children were transported to annexed Crimea or the territory of the Russian Federation.
